ABSTRAC
Determination of land boundary between the Republic of Indonesia and
East Timor is done to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of the territory of
both countries. These efforts need support, such as survey and mapping of the
border region, naming (toponym) islands, border diplomacy, until the recognition
of the United Nations (UN Basically the state limit should be set based on
bilateral or multilateral agreements rather than unilateral. Some common
problems associated with the issue of border demarcation and delimitation, among
others: How to setting land boundary between the Republic of Indonesia and
Timor Leste and the consequences of setting a land border of both countries
Legal writing is aimed to know how to setting land boundary between the
countries of Indonesia and Timor Leste and the consequences of setting
boundaries of both countries.
Research Location in the State of East Timor with the subject of research
at the official representatives of Foreign Affairs of East Timor in East Timor, the
Land Office of East Timor and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in East
Timor. Data obtained from studies both from library research and field research,
and then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods, namely the data obtained
after selected based on the issues and views conformance with applicable
regulations, then the conclusion in order to obtain answers to problems.
Conclusion The results of research and discussion, as follows: How to
setting land boundary between the Republic of Indonesia and the Democratic
Republic of Timor-Leste (RDTL), based on the Treaty of Arbitration Awards in
1904 and 1914.
